Is scan info just wrong?

When you scan with the terminal it shows you one number of item value on the map but when you take off from the planet the game shows you a different value. Why?

I mean when you leave the planet and it gives you a grade it shows for example a value that looks like 308/1000. I just assumed it means you collected 308$ out of 1000 possible. But the value on the right which is 1000 never matches with the value from scan

The only thing I can think of is that the scan counts some things that the value summary doesn't. My guess would be keys (which seem to have a bugged value) and Circuit Bee hives.

Apparently the scan is pretty idiotic.

It looks at items, sees the category, which is i.e. "small item" and then says "a small item COULD be worth 48$" and then adds THAT to the scan total, instead of the 12$ it's actually worth.

Read about this when i was going through mods. Not sure how accurate this is.

No, that number is also wrong as you can earn more money in a stage than shown. That being said, grading money is much closer to the actual possible cash than the scan by a large margin.

The scan is an approximation, the number at the end is (supposedly) the ACTUAL total.

end of game score (the 208/1000) doesnt account for bee hives and shotguns iirc
