Game crashes after loading in
EDITED/UPDATED

So, i used to use a gaming laptop to play, hence the recorded hours i have. However i made a... mistake, and now its broken. I have access to 2 potato laptops and I'm trying to play the game. Here's the problem

The first laptop (the one I'm on right now because its better) is an Intel i5 5200 8gb (Sorry if i get something here wrong, I'm not very hardware literate). This laptop cannot run the game. Every time, i will load in, select online play, click host, click a save file, click friends only, then click confirm. It will then present the "loading..." text for a bit, then load into a black screen. Shortly after this the game becomes unresponsive, and no amount of waiting helps. Iv tried SO MANY things to fix this but nothing seems to work, and no matter what i do its the exact same issue (There was one exception, in the comments). Every time without fail

Now, the second laptop is bad. Its an I3 4gb. But, its able to load into a game without issue every time. This laptop is far below the minimum specs for the game, and it can load and run the game. I will actually load into a game when i click confirm instead of it becoming unresponsive. Problem is i get maybe 20fps, so its not really viable to use

I'm at a loss. This laptop is just under the minimum requirements, and no matter what i do its the same exact issue every time. But somehow the other laptop, which is far below the minimum requirements, can run a game, albeit poorly

I just want to play again

Fixed the crashing issue. In your steam/steamapps/common/Lethal Company folder delete everything except Lethal Company_Data and then verify game files through steam
didn't work :(

Hey, I don't know if this will work for anyone else but it worked for me and I haven't had any crashes since. I used to crash every 2-5 minutes which made it basically unplayable.

For me, I had to go into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lethal Company directory, go to the Lethal Company.exe, right click to open the properties and check Disable fullscreen optimizations, Run this program as an administrator, and Use legacy display ICC color management. Haven't crashed since! Hopefully this helps somebody.

For context, I'm running a rig with Nvidia RTX 4070 Mobile, Intel i7-13700HX, 32gb RAM, and a 1TB samsung nvme SSD. I tried re-installing all drivers and everything as was recommended a million times, but none of it ever made a difference. Finally I clicked the checkbox for legacy display ICC color management and it's been great for the five hours of playtime since. Good luck!

Not reduced color mode, the one that says "Use legacy display ICC color management". It's the bottom option for me in my compatibility settings for the game, just above the button that says "Change high DPI settings".

Oh, maybe it's a driver specific thing. What are your machine specs? I'm running intel i7 CPU and Nvidia RTX 4070 mobile GPU.

yeah probably, Intel i5 5200U and intel hd 5500 graphics card, this is obviously below the minimum requirements but i wouldnt be trying to play it if my friend with much worse specs manages to play it while i cant.

I mean same, but for one, personal circumstances make this a rather difficult thing to deal with right now. And two, its simply the only game i have any interest in playing right now :/
so just to be clear, delete the following files from steamapps/common/Lethal Company:
Lethal Company.exe
NVUnityPlugin.dll
UnityCrashHandler64.exe
UnityPlayer.dll
nvngx_dlss.dll
winhttp.dll
doorstop_config.ini
BepInEx
MonoBleedingEdge

you should ONLY have Lethal Company_Data in your steamapps/common/Lethal Company folder. if you see files here that you do not have, that's because they're mods that I use. you don't need them for the game to run. then, DO NOT uninstall the game, but go into your steam library. right click the game. then click properties. from there hit installed files and then verify integrity of game files. if done correctly, it should install 4 files and the game will work.

Sadly it still didnt fix the issue :/

that's really weird. even capped at 60 fps? if all that doesn't fix it, might be an issue with your hardware. i think you said what you're running, but i don't remember and it's been buried in other comments. did you said you have an igpu? if so, thats integrated graphics. you don't have a dedicated video card. it's part of your processor instead
Saobie Dec 16, 2023 @ 10:35am
I have an Intel I5 5200 8gb driver. Iv been looking at this issue in other places and as far as i can tell its an issue with Intel drivers, as well as a few others. Which is why im not hoping for a fix anytime soon :/

ok yeah, so this is an integrated video card. instead of a separate gpu with fans that plugs directly into the motherboard. it might just be an issue with your hardware rather than the game unfortunately

I just fixed this problem for myself by turning on GPU Scaling within my AMD Radeon Settings. Hope this helps someone! :viridian:
