Is it even worth buying this game if you have no friends?

The game looks fun AF from the YT videos I've seen but I notice it's very very co-op dependent. How about those gamers without friends though? Is a public lobby any better?

Personally, I'd say it's not worth playing with complete randoms.

No not really. Even modded the experience is debatable as a solo, but more tolerable.

If you have at least 2 friends who are willing to join you consistently the game is a lot of fun, but if it is only you and one friend I would wishlist & skip on the game or mod it if you do get it.


Main issues as a solo you will find are as follows:

Joining Multiplayer:
* Modded servers aren't differentiated from vanilla servers as of v40 (idk if this changed in v45 or not.) In other words, good luck finding a lobby that works.
* You can only join at the beginning of a match.
* People will be very picky about who can join them since they cannot get new people to join without restarting.
* Players will often restart the server if everyone dies since they don't want to lose their loot.

Solo:
* If you die you lose all of your scrap back on the ship, but keep the same quota & deadline counted down by one, in otherwords you might as well restart if you die.
* Weight is a major issue as heavy objects slow you down significantly & make jumping gaps harder.
* Shovels weigh too much to reliably keep them on you.
* Flashlights have weight.
* Stamina amount & regen speed is awful so you will spend a lot of time carrying things doing nothing.
* Tree Giants if they see you practically are guaranteed to kill you.
* Bracken will insta kill you if you don't notice it before it notices you.
* You will spend more time ""walking"" than actually doing anything fun. & by walking I mean slowly returning to the ship as your pathetic stamina does its thing.

Considering this is just another of the hundreds of YT meme games and the DEVS are actively making it impossible to play solo, I would say no.

I've already refunded it after the latest patch destroyed the players ability to survive solo using railings which was the literal only way to survive most moons as a solo.

You can mod the game, I was in the process of playing the game solo with mods, it becomes a lot more viable with mods, the game received an update recently, wait for most mods to be updated and then try doing it solo.

There is a level of charm to doing this with comms, but in the end this game has a limited appeal to begin with, so it's cheap you can ♥♥♥♥ around with it and never bother with it again.

The mods can make this game worth the under 20 bucks you can pay.
