Lethal company community is awful now (rant)

I’m so upset that I can’t even really play anymore. I accidentally stumbled upon the game a couple days after release while browsing horror games and fell in love. I remember there was like only 3 servers up that day I played it at a time. Everyone was so cool and the game is amazing zeekers did a really good job. But now that it’s been broadcasted on every media form literal FLOODS of people from the worst gaming communities are playing too. And it’s not about gate keeping or anything, I want zeekers to get all the support they deserve. But there’s no way to completely ban these people who are just doing the worst ♥♥♥♥. Nobody really plays vanilla bc modding is so easy and every time I get into a more company server it’s just dudes saying the n word and other just unfunny slurs and stuff. It sounds like a total cod lobby every time I play now. People just get kicked randomly and the servers, mods are so buggy (especially now with V45), and the people (the only main reason I’ve dropped 60 hours I the game) are just insufferable now. Unless zeekers can develop some kind of report system where enough of the same report comes in you get banned or something from playing public I do not want to play. And I know I’ll probably get a bunch of backlash but I just can’t stand it anymore. The servers are so hostile and unfun now. I’m glad it’s the best selling game on steam because zeekers is busting their ass to update the game and stuff. It’s a real shame this huge wave of people came in and are ruining the game for others simply to be edgy.

I've explained to you why a report system that functions like that is flawed and isn't a good idea to implement because its one that is easily abused and can be used to falsely report players by the same people you're trying to avoid. Reporting with no basis of evidence has always been a horrid thing. Either way, you can dodge lobbies until you find a good one or host your own lobby for more control of the people you want.

It's pretty easy to find people to play with, you just need to put a bit of effort.
I personally have been trying to add chill people who I play with in lobbies as friend so I can invite them in the future, you can also join various discords to help with finding groups.

Random lobbies are going to be hit or miss in 99% of the games that exist, you can complain all you want, but there isn't a bulletproof solution for toxic players and this is a game made by only one developer, so getting tools to combat toxicity is going to be even harder.

sooooo hear me out..........you arent gonna like my answer buuuuuuut........ it sounds like you need friends ....... just a thought but ive played this game with only a hand full of friends sometimes me and 1 other sometimes 9 of us and its never not been fun.............as far as joining random lobbies and hearing nothing but hatespeech and slurs.............welcome to gaming in the year 2023 everyones a dumb racist idiot............your best bet is to either suck it up and deal with toxic losers or hopefully you can find a crew thatll be fun and you can run with

Not everyone is like that (there are plenty though, unfortunately).

I do think modding is kind of unintentionally helping to kill the community atm. Since many people don’t care for vanilla experience and people with basically way too much time are dedicated solely to modding in all sorts of QoL/alternative game modes, its outpacing Zeeker’s own plans and dev time. I’m also having trouble finding unmodded lobbies and even having servers just gone from the list as a result.

As per undesirables, there isn’t much to be done beyond just hosting yourself and kicking out anyone who doesn’t meet yoyr standards. Thats always a double edged sword but it beats playing the crapshoot of *quickplay joining.

I am not saying this to sound mean, but I am wondering if you are new on the internet, or only have spent your time so far on curated, popular and mainstream social media sites? You have possibly been blissfully unaware of the reality of the internet outside of your bubble. People have, and always will be, edgy on the internet. The anonymity gives them immense freedom, and a lot of immature people like kids of developmentally-stunted folks find their way onto here and let loose. People say these things in private with their friends in real life, all throughout history, and have done so since online games were a thing as well. I am sorry it upsets you, but you can't moderate it out. You will only end up silencing people who still say these things regularly in other spaces, or hold the same sentiments. You would also need an immensely deep and invasive report/ ban system to properly squash these behaviors, which will be difficult to implement and act a a turnoff for many users who don't believe it a necessary part of enjoying the game.

I think you should gather up people on your friend's list and recommend them the game so you can get a group of folks you feel comfortable around to play together. This is your best solution it seems. If you don't have close friends who play it, you can probably find people in whatever discord groups you are a part of, since it is a hot topic meme game at the moment and everyone is playing it.

That’s hard when me and plenty of other normal players are living their normal lives most the day. I come home after work and wanna just be able to enjoy an hour or two of a game. Don't like the wording there. They're playing in their own lobby, of course you should "accept" that they exist. Accept it and move on. Join a different server or start your own so you can control who you play with. You shouldn't have any right to go into someone's server and get them banned.
