I haven't written mods for Lethal Company, but I am software dev that has played around with mods.

1)Do you have any experience coding (in any coding language)? I ask so I know where to start from in giving you advice.

2) What are you looking to add? because the complexity can scale depending on what you are wanting to do.

1) not really familiar with any, but i have tried c++ and lua (mainly c++)
and know the very very very basic stuff

2) i want to start small and work my way up, so like idk simple stuff like radio songs and maybe suits? or monster sfx something like that yknow?

Look into BepInEx (unity modding framework)

I briefly looked into it. Effectively, you'll want to look into BepInEx (which baardie mentioned), and the specific documentation that involves. That is a modding API for the game engine this game uses which has extensive documentation and which has been used to help create other prominent mods. To actually mod the game, you'll need to know some programming and/or scripting, and then organize your files into the proper hierarchy to run with the modding API as a package. Though if you just want to start small with something like radio songs or suits, you can look at existing mods that already allow for custom songs to be implemented for the Boombox and which implement new Suits for ideas on how to program them. You can view their source code on GitHub or on the Thunderstore mod manager or such, typically.
