Does a eclipsed moon give more scrap or does it just increase the spawn rate of dangerous monsters?
I'm just curious

I'll keep this short - Eclipse will do 2 things depending on the maps you're on. You will:
a) Spawn with more than 0 entities outside (Normally safe until ~9pm)
b) Rend / Dine spawn with 3 / 4 entities both inside and outside respectively.

Weather effects don't do anything other than make the game harder.

There's is a weather multiplier mod however on Overwolfs thunderstorm which makes it actually high risk high reward by increasing scrap value on weather modified moons. It's a good balance I find :steammocking:

from (fairly little) experience, eclipsed moons tend to have more eyeless dogs spawned in, as they spawn at night and its perma-night when eclipsed, not sure about loot

Go to rend without eclipse
get good loot, think, i'll come back here again!
*rend is eclipsed
Oh ....

Conclusion: eclipse can screw over your paid for moon trips, you paid 500 for rend and now must either risk the eclipse or leave, if you leave you need to pay 500 again to return etc

Eclipse is more than just a way to make the game harder, it puts you in difficult choices sometimes.

You don't necessarily need to spend money again if you simply take off and then remain in the moon's orbit.

You will lose one day, but might find clear weather on the next one.

Hopefully will be implemented into the base game to encourage going to weathered moons

No. You get no more loot spawned in the system than on an unmodified moon. This makes it so a majority of the time it just isn't worth it at all to go to a moon under hazard. Especially if it's flooded or eclipsed if you're new at the game. If you're on a free moon, always just switch to another free moon. If you're on a paid moon, then there's three logically viable options:

If you're on a paid moon without any scrap on board OR you don't have enough scrap for the deadline/you can't get enough on another moon, there's no reason to not just go in and do it. You lose nothing, you only stand to gain.

Else if you're on a paid moon on the last day, and you're comfortable with your quota, just go to a free moon.

Else simply land and takeoff so you preserve your position and don't have to buy another ticket back.

Honestly, IMO, there should be some sort of reward to make the risk worth it. Even if you're a god at the game, it usually just isn't beneficial enough to risk all of your scrap just to get a smaller amount of scrap due to the difficulties, or in some cases it just being near impossible (like flooded on some maps, or foggy on march).

The current system does a good job of encouraging you to switch to a new moon occasionally instead of just playing your favorite over and over again, but I agree that the current implementation leaves something to be desired. The weather effects are so harsh that it's almost illogical to try playing a day with them active (well, except for storming, that one's just annoying). Some sort of hazard bonus or whatever would turn it into a more risk-reward scenario.

i’ve never noticed it give more loot my friends and I just ignore the weather conditions and go to a different moon.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Eclipse Titan is dangerous because it's a single choke

Eclipsed Dine and Rend spread the additional spawns around.
I personally find them better options if eclipsed

If I may, Titan is oddly safer since not only can you avoid entities by getting to the stairs right in-front of the ship, you can drop loot really close to the ship. Since the entities are nearby, there's less risk traveling back since giants can be bated/stunned by team members. Store can be deployed to lure all dogs away etc...

Dine at least has fire escape nearby the ship, but otherwise the distance you have to travel with heavy loot is far enough that those spread-out entities will likely find you on that path forcing you to drop loot, die, or make a close-call. Not to mention the above fact I blocked out.

That said, Rend/Dine look cooler.

The problem is when you spend 550 to 700 bucks to go to a Tier 3 Moon, you kind of cant really leave. If you leave to avoid the weather effect and then come back later, you have to pay that money again (because you left).

That being said, Eclipsed isn't as bad if you generally understand how the enemies work. They usually spawn right next to the ship so once you clear that you are free to just sprint to the entrance.
