Not straight up talking to alive players. But it gives them some ways to communicate. There's a Ouija board mod that lets dead players talk through the board to alive players. But I don't think there's a way to directly talk to alive players. Would kind of ruin the game.
there is already a text chat for alive people so I don't see any problem
Not everyone is comfortable sharing their voice online.
Mostly is from the unspoken stipulation that if you don't sound like a guy that is 18+, then you'll be bullied even though you did nothing wrong. (This is in a lot of games, sadly.)
OR they are in an environment where they will have constant background noise (Fan, obnoxious siblings, unsettled dogs, etc.
you also cant see what the alive people are saying in text chat which they'll usually use over voice if there's a dog around and i wish zeekers would add that in
