My Biggest Gripe
Quota 3
i die to an accident, slip down into water and drown ... but it then deletes all my scrap and fines me ... so im out of pocket and have no way to really reach a sensible quota anymore as saving scrap is the only way to do this.

Conclusion:
Delete save and start again.

---------------------

An accident forced me to delete my save and start over.
Yes i'm aware save scumming is the only work around, but why is that even a thing to begin with, i wouldn't need to save scum if it just, didn't delete my scrap lol.

Why, why does it delete the scrap thats on the ship, if i die and i need to pay a fine, i get that, im okay with it, but why on god heck does it delete it all as well?? what is the point of even continuing if its going to do that, why does it not just kick you back to main menu and delete your save as thats the only realistic thing you can do anyway .....

Why store scrap at all if it just, gets deleted, its such a dumb feature lol

---------------------

Just an fyi to those that don't know, if you quit to menu just as you die, before the ship returns to space, it reloads your previous save state before you landed on the moon, this is known as save scumming.

---------------------

Work around / fix for the dev to consider:

It takes scrap from you at the cost of the fine, so instead of it just flat out deleting everything, it only deletes upto the fines cost - This way, the base game is still intact without a major overhaul.

Yes im fully aware a mod fixes this issue, and the fact its a mod means a lot of agree, deletion of scrap needs to either go, or change majorly to how and why it does it ....

It seems like the best solution is to disable removing scrap on squad death in single player

On multiplayer its rarely ever an issue since it requires all of the crew to be killed on the moon (which is fair since the crew has to mess up pretty badly for it to be an issue), but on single player it happens after every death.

Quick question, are you playing solo?

Agreed. It's 100% fair for this feature to be in MP. It would be understandable for it to be disabled or minimized in solo.

Then again it IS supposed to be a high risk high reward strategy to save up scrap to sell on the last day. But saying there's no workaround is just factually wrong. You're meant to sell your stuff early if you aren't willing to take that risk. And just improve if that's not enough.

The game is supposed to go on indefinitely, if you can't reach quota 3, it's by design. You're supposed to hit a wall, that's how any endless gameplay works. And you *will* hit a wall even if the game lets you keep your scrap. It's impossible to hit all quotas, whether that's quota 3 or 10 doesn't matter.

That being said i'll admit that the hole in front of the main entrance on March is just pure unfair, sometimes the terrible geometry borderline sucks you into the hole when you were clearly on flat enough land except nope.

I use a mod that when there is a wipe, there is a coinflip for every item in the ship. So a 50/50 chance to either keep your item or lose it.

For those interested in it:

ahh forgot to mention that, but yes, i like to play games singleplayer, im fully aware this is far less of a thing in multiplayer, and there is a mod for it too, but im not looking to fix an issue with mods.

i know the game isn't really meant for solo, but when you do play solo, especially without mods, its just a migraine waiting to happen lol.

No worries~ Yeah fair

Just, the mechanic of it removing all your scrap on teamwipe is one that exists specifically for 4 player coop, so that at least one person always has to make it back to the ship.

It makes a lot of sense as you cant just bring everything to your ship and then ignore it leaving at midnight. But of course, when you play solo, you get a wipe if you die and there is no backup. There's mods that cater specifically to solo play however, though I forgot the names of them. Mods that can be used to make days last longer or to remove the scrap penalty on wipe.

Yeah .... i only used quota 3 as an exmaple, but if this happened on lets say quota 10, a simple accident, i could adjust to lose what im carrying and paying a fine, but my entire ships worth of stuff feels so heavy handed, but yeah, if its a multiplayer thing that makes complete sense.

Hopefully the dev will add more flexibility for soloplayers in the future, for now, its just a gripe that i'll have to adjust to.
