Thumpers will receive a massive change in the upcoming v0.47 patch!

This is all from the Beta-Branch version.
1) They will now have a proper turning rate, thus being easier to dodge/sidestep.
2) Much higher acceleration speed, thus being really hard to kite and backpedal. Hits no longer will slow them down to a snail speed. So, be ready to adapt to a new Matador kiting pattern, where you basically sidestep Thumper's charge, let him slam into the wall, bonk him 1-2 times, and repeat.
3) Also! Shovels weight 8lb now!

Is this based on beta-testing, or are these stated somewhere?
Sounds interesting at least but wondering how it'll work. The backpedal strat worked because of the stunlock mostly but the new mechanics would probably make it more environmental dependent (which I'm totally ok with)

It's based of the beta branch update. I was running tests with it. Also shovel weights 8lb now

That's actually huge! Most of the reason I refrained from doing shovel duty was the weight. Nice to see!

Shovels being lighter is truly the biggest nerf to Thumpers, Spiders and Nutcrackers.

I’ll miss being able to stop a Thumper moving a mach 10, but looping it and killing it will be fun.

I've noticed they're a lot harder to kill now, this makes it a bit easier but also keeps it balanced

The backpedal bonking still works its just harder (you can see for yourself in beta)

Why make the Thumper into an indoor-dog?

Saw a video of the 0.47 Thumper in action, and it looks a lot more fun to deal with.
Now its like a charging bull rather than a Bunker Spider that runs at Mach 7.

The lack of stunning from a shovel is a good trade-off for a method to reliably dodge them.

Because as funny & exhilarating as it was to die to a speedracer mach 10 drifting Thumper it was not good game balance.
