Bee hives are to hard to collect even with others
If a bee hive spawns relatively close to the ship, this problem does not really apply as you have enough time for one person to distract the bees and the other one grabs the bee hive and leave it outside the ship and then take off to get the bees of it, the problem is when the bee hive is far away from the ship. The problem is the one who is the bees very quickly stops attacking the distracting player and goes towards the one with the bee hive, now once they chase that guy he is dead because even if you drop the bee hive they wont stop attacking. This means you will either have to sacrifice one or more players just to get a bee hive or you have to ignore them unless they spawn close.
Ive tested this a few times but the bees could stop attacking after some time but I think its to punishing considering how much of a risk it is.

There is a consistent way to grab them, it's just tedious solo if it's far away from the ship. You move in range of the bees, wait for them to fly towards you slightly, then curve and start a sprint. You grab the hive and sprint until you're almost out of stamina, drop the hive and sprint out of range of the bees with the leftovers. Rinse and repeat.

The problem that ive experienced when trying to grab the beehives is the bees keeps following the person until they are dead even if they drop the beehive

The bees need some work. When my buddy hosts they 100% refuse to attack me and if he's twice as far away they'll jump straight on him. Then securing the hive and closing the door is followed by being stung through the walls by 2-3 bees at the edge of the swarm that clip through.

Interesting, didn't face that issue yet. So far the bees have been on a pretty consistent leash to me. Sucks to hear there's an issue with that on your end.

I've had the same issue with bees. From my poor memory, this is what I've observed:

If someone grabs the hive on multiplayer and P1 grabs the hive, the bees will only aggro P1. P2 will not be able to aggro the bees almost entirely. If P1 lures the bees away and P2 grabs the hive, the bees will remain aggro'd on P1 and never return to the hive. In this state, they remain aggressive and will hunt players in close proximity.

I've watched roaming bees wipe my whole squad like this since it usually happens nearby the ship.

just avoid the bees and put them on the front of the ship. make sure bees never lose sight of the hive or you will kill everyone.

Nah it's easy I do it solo all the time, just go near enough that they aggro on you, sidestep them, then just take the hive and run until you've got almost no stamina left, and then you just stop, refill your stamina and repeat
