So far it's worked, with the worm jumping out behind me.
It might be ideal to not sprint in a straight line, but rather "curve" slightly while doing so, in order to change direction a bit, as well.

Else you predict and start running way before it start the particles as it can be intant erupt, thus giving no react time if you wait for it.
The problem I'm having is that the worm doesnt jump when I fall back. lets say I'm in assurance chokepoint and need to go between the boulders back to the ship, I hear the roar when I'm between the boulders, I run back and the roaring stops the worm doesnt make a move though and from then on the place where I heard it first roar is completely off limits to me as when I enter that radius I hear it roaring again
sorry if my england is bad I tried to explain it the best way I could. I'll try to get a video of it happening sometime
It's basically this. The worm is an invisible entity and once you're in its kill radius for x amount of time, it'll launch its delayed attack. If it's trailing you from behind, you're relatively safe, but if you wander into it when it's in front of you, chances are it'll get to attack unless you run in a straight line through it and are relatively weightless.
It's hard to tell if it's behind you, on the side or in front so I don't recommend stopping, hesitating or backing up and instead drop everything and run in a straight line to the ship or building. Worms have low chase duration so they give up chase quick when you leave them in the dust. Always save stamina when there's a worm.
Worth noting I'm almost certain its attack delay is random to prevent people from cheesing its attack by baiting it out. I've seen worms pop out with barely half a second of warning and sometimes 2 seconds so I don't recommend baiting it.
Especially players like me who can't hear it roaring (Wind is too loud in a lot of maps)
