Same issue with eyeless dogs. THey seem to be perma-aggro'd on the last place they heard a player, so they'll just keep lunging around an area forever, and if they last heard someone at the door to the ship they will just lunge around the entrance and even into the ship until they kill someone.
to answer your question, the answer is:
1. Teleporter and bait with someone with zero items
2. Drop all and sprint
3. Approach the ship from the angle the giant is on the opposite side of (optional: use radio comms to locate the giant via someone inside the ship)
4. Lure to an exit, and leave via a different exit or after it's lost aggro
5. Stun/flashbang
They seem to outrun you even if you drop all items. Also even if you lure them away they just seem to come back again.
Pro tip: being on the catwalk or on top of the ship as it takes off will teleport you inside right before you reach orbit, so you can safely stay up there as long as you have someone to take off/can wait until midnight for autopilot.
Since they tend to camp areas where they last saw player, they’re deaf but have good sight so you have to remain out of line of sight when one is patrolling.
Technically you can kill them via the sand worm if you lead them into one.
But they’re rare to find on maps like offense and Assurance.
They don’t, I don’t think there’s even been any relation found in the code from what I’ve heard.
They can spot you from really far away, and give off several warning signs that they've spotted you, so if you start sprinting away from them at that point you can get away and even lose aggro sometimes. I've done it and seen it done many times personally. They are definitely faster than the player but that doesn't mean they can't be juked.
You just need enough distance and be able to get somewhere you can break LOS and/or aggro with them permanently.
I've also outran them many times in the last sprint to the ship, just try not to be spotted until you're already close enough to jump on. Or use one of the other 3-4 methods.
I am sure you wanted to say that they have great eyesight. :D
In v0.40 i tried to lure one away so i walked somewhat close so that i could be teleported in while running.
I tried yelling, jumping and generally be in its vision but it took almost 2 minutes for it to finally notice me (uWu) AND it came right back to the ships entrance after it lost sight of me due to me being teleported.
I dont know how they got changed in 0.45 but they are a pain to deal with due to being somehwat unpredictable so i can understand the frustration.
Its a shame the laserpointer doesnt work. It would definetly fit with that particular creature just like how it would be cool to use the boombox against the dogs which... somehow doesnt work or only works if you carry the damn box.
