How 2 mute mic

Just got the game, and I realized that my mic was unmuted when I was dead. Is it actually unmuted or is it just a weird visual bug?

Other dead players can hear you, but living ones can't; so your mic isn't "muted" but rather you're in a different voice chat.

Use push to talk and don't push the button? Activate the manual mute on your Mic if it has one? Don't talk?

You have to mute your mic yourself by using the mute button on your headset if it has one. Being dead switches you back to voice activated even if you used push to talk before.
