Should doors be more useful? (Feedback/Discussion Thread)
It seems like the doors in this game do nothing but block you. I think it'd be nice if at least some of the creatures you encounter couldn't open the doors. It makes sense that some would be able to but not all of them.
I think at minimum the snare fleas shouldn't be able to open them at all. Perhaps some of the larger but less intelligent creatures, such as the thumpers, get slowed down by doors but can break them down when chasing someone. They hit it a couple times, then the door is broken and can't be closed anymore.

Strangely thumpers do sometimes require extended effort to get through a door in a chase, but it isn't consistent.
Enraged Jesters and Coilheads require time to force a closed door open.
Slimes cannot open doors at all.

I do agree with doors having more use. A locked door is effectively a wall in terms of protection but the second you pop a key in most monsters open it even faster than you.

I think the only monster that cannot open doors is the slime, but it doesn't need to open it it just goes straight through.
Most of them shouldn't be able to or should take much longer and actually destroy the door like thumpers and maybe spiders.
Coilheads definitely should not be able to open them, there's no way to properly avoid them especially if you're alone with one, you're lucky if you can use the fire exit/main door to leave while one is behind you.
Fleas shouldn't be able to open them at all.
Bracken and Jester are fine as they are I think.

you will see the slime on the other side of the door, but it won't go all the way through. You probably just assumed it was going all the way through since you saw it partially.

I don't see any harm in creating more interactions between players and monsters, the doors could be a great start to that.

No I’ve seen it go through fully. I guess it was a bug.
