Could this run on a Thinkpad T470s?
It's the only computer a destitute friend of mine has and it's good enough for terraria. This game seems like it could run on even a potato, but I'm not sure.

I don't currently have access to the computer to test, and I want to get them the game a gift as a surprise IF IT WORKS... but I don't want to get them a game that won't run /:

Honestly no, with Intel HD Graphics 520 you would have better chances to "run" (walk/crawl) Deep Rock Galactics. There are lots of good older games though.

Buy it, try it, if it doesn't work, refund it.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy

Minimum requirement is GTX 1050, it is pretty much guaranteed it won't run. For Deep Rock Galactic though minimum is GTX 660.

Burning firewood must be cheaper way of warming up in the winter than running modern games on old hardware.

You're all being so negative. Thinkpads are more capable than you give them credit for, they're a lot more than just "old hardware."

The T470s is a good low-budget laptop. CPU isnt bad, but it only uses a basic onboard graphics chip. 3D stuff usually doesnt work well with onboard chips.

Cant say with this game though. It seemingly uses many low-poly modles that shouldnt be very taxing on your system. Then again it uses some blurry weird shaders that (usually) need additional processing.

But you never know how optimized a game is until you try it. So yeah, try it.

Someone I know who can't play almost any game on their PC, but can play games like Terraria or League of Legends (albeit with a long loading time), is able to play this game fine on a non-gaming-centric laptop computer that is over a decade old.

Take from that what you want. It is worth a shot.

Hardware aside, you can find better games for your bucks than this one. Something akin to Terraria. Something more long lasting. Personally, I would recommend Mount&Blade: Warband, my most played game.

Thinkpads are a pretty common model of laptop. Someone somewhere with a T470S has already tried this game and will post in this thread. Eventually.
