They should change inventory controls

Simple suggestion: 1, 2, 3, and 4 can be your inventory, while 5 and 6 can be dance and point.
It would make the game much, much more convenient to play.

you're right but for the time being, there's a mod over at the thunderstore page that has this covered (several different approaches to it even)

What worked for me was also using a controller and using the arrows and then going back to the keyboard (or staying with controller, whatever works for u)

Item Quick Switch or HotbarPlus. I personally prefer HotbarPlus because it has additional configurable features such as additional inventory slots, faster item switching animations, and a quick-drop item feature.
