I have seen in multiple servers, some vanilla, that there is way more money than there should be before the first moon. How is this possible?

fairly certain they're using the scaling mod that lets you adjust up or down the difficulty to match player counts better

To add onto what others said above, I've encountered some instances of item duplication when closing/restarting online lobbies. There was one twitch streamer's server I joined where the other two players ragequit, so after we sold our stuff to meet the quota he closed and remade the server. When I rejoined, the items were still there, yet the game still said that we were already working on our next quota as it had after we sold our stuff and left the planet prior to shutting the server down.
