Lethal Company

Can the monsters hear you talk?
I saw the back of a creature, turned on my flashlight, and said out loud: "The f*ck are you?!"

It turned around and gave chase. Was it my flashlight that gave me away or my voice?

The creature was almost human, had long hair, and glowing eyes.

Literally just got this game. Nothing is "obvious" to someone who just started. Nobody can be expected to know everything about a game the moment they launch it.

I appreciate the answer, regardless.

There would be no point in adding proximity chat if the monsters couldn't hear you.

are you stupid? lmao, proximity chat is for talking and the monsters happen to engage in the mechanic. also to answer the question depends on the monster. i wont spoil which ones but yes some are attracted to noise some aren't.

Yeah, I found that out when something dropped onto my face and nearly killed me. I have no idea what it was or how I was supposed to get it off, but it let go right after causing a critical injury.

I thought proximity chat was for player to player conversing, I wasn't entirely sure if monsters cared or not. As in the very very early days of Phasmophobia, ghosts did not care if you made noise.

the monsters can hear you talk except for the deaf ones like a thumper and blinds ones like the eyless dog cannot see your flashlight ( i dont think a flashlight brings the monsters closer)

the point of proximity chat is so your friends can't hear you at all times, not to lure in monsters.

There are monsters that can hear you but cant see you.
There are also those that can not hear you but see very well.
Some monsters are aggressive right of the bat, others like to stalk and some just get annoyed by your mere pressence.
And there are rare monsters that are entirely unavoidable and will kill you if you neglect their mechanics.

Use your right click often and look them up on the terminal in your ship under "bestiary"

If you don't want to be spoiled, scanning and reading up on the creatures' information on your ship database will dictate what their weakness or counter is most of the time. There's also just the opportunity to try and experiment yourself, but don't be surprised if you end up getting munched or annihilated.
