the point of proximity chat is so your friends can't hear you at all times, not to lure in monsters.
There are monsters that can hear you but cant see you.
There are also those that can not hear you but see very well.
Some monsters are aggressive right of the bat, others like to stalk and some just get annoyed by your mere pressence.
And there are rare monsters that are entirely unavoidable and will kill you if you neglect their mechanics.
Use your right click often and look them up on the terminal in your ship under "bestiary"
