once you get some money together for pro flashlights and walkie-talkies for everyone, or once you have the confidence to move past the tutorial / easy maps into the middle maps, the difficulty spike will result in more funny deaths.
or maybe you just find the prospect of a horror game where you see your friends die in front of you just not appealing? not every game is for everyone after all.
or maybe some aspects of the game are just missed by you? for example the shop system is easy to miss, or how to select different moons, or the tactic of one dude staying in the ship to advise everyone via cams and radio?
maybe you didn't meet the more scary monsters yet? maybe you had a boring friend with you? maybe you were so focused on being efficient that you left early instead of trying to risk everything by getting more stuff?
maybe the idea of a game that gives you no real long-term goal or progression is just entirely unappealing to you?
but to answer your first question, about what everyone is doing, here's my part:
i'm trying to look for noobs to tell them the bare minimum about this game just to either see them get slaughtered or to have them guide me into being slaughtered :D
i'm also risking my life a lot on medium moons with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flashlight, because we die so much that we don't have money for good flashlights.
and then someone takes the apparatus while we are still all inside, and my flashlight battery dies. through the walkie-talkie i just hear a "gabgab! turn around!", and i do turn around, just to stare in the empty white eyes of a creature seemingly twice my height and i book it :D
then, back at the ship i see a friend getting eaten by a giant, screaming his lungs out, and i used that distraction to sneak inside the ship and leave the our "commander".
as for the fourth guy, well, "every man for himself" :D
