Lethal Company

Item proposal: Portable Radar / Motion Detector
It would be cool if we didn't have to force one guy to sit it out at the base all the time. We always end up pulling matches on who's gonna do the boring job. Perhaps it would be a good idea to make a portable radar a purchasable piece of equipment. Possibly nerf it in some way compared to a full radar, for example make it only detect movement.

I'm all for cool new gadgets, so long as they are balanced.

WDYM boring job? I can't be the only one that actually enjoys playing mission control and making sure all the little gremlins I have to call coworkers don't get themselves killed by a turret or a surprise coil head am I?

A motion sensor like from the Aliens universe would dope as heck. What's balanced about it is that if a hostile mob is standing still, it wouldn't pick it up.

This is too good of an idea. If you have a monitor person, normally they are not really truly playing the game, just kind of camping and waiting around. If you don't have a monitor person you are at SUCH a disadvantage. I think this could be in two items though, a Scrap Scanner which finds scrap, and a Monster Scanner which detects nearby monsters using the movement system you just described.

I'm usually the guy who stays behind, but not initially... I've found it to be extremely effective to send everyone in, then have someone fill up and head back to the ship as the others stay behind for the late-game. Normally, I'm that guy...and it gives you the enjoyment of both worlds. It isn't dull at all...as you get the pleasure of the hilarity of everyone's attempts to make it back alive.

Regardless, if something like this were implemented, I'd give it limited charges and make it directional sonar. You have to point it into a direction and it will ping everything that way for a distance. Won't help you real time...but will give you a heads up.

Sorry friend didn't get around to check it out, how does it work exactly and what's the price point?
