Edit: To be more specific, with blind dogs for example, you can crouch walk out of the ship and move away from the ship. Then turn the boombox on and the dogs will come to the boombox.

You live on a ship and die often and get charged for dying. I can't afford mood lighting, let me have my boombox.

You can also leave it at the entrance to a facility to help you find your way back. Though that benefit is a small one since operators do this better and the battery on it isn't super long.

well the boombox has a hidden use, if you sell it to the squid that take your quota you will get increased rewards, don't tell that to everyone tho
