cheaters starting to infest
encountered about 5 cheaters today while joining public lobbies, doing such things as adding massive amounts of cash into the hosts game, instantly killing players without doing a thing, infinite sprint, becoming invisible, spawning creatures, deleting items and possibly much more that i myself didn't encounter from them. Exceptionally unfortunate since i loved joining random sessions and having a good time. now this just completely ruins it as they join for their 5 minutes of self fun and ruining of others game sessions before moving onto the next public lobby. would love to hear from anyone else who has also had these "people" join them and behave like this.

Yes it is getting infuriating. Have had people use infinite sprint and cheat in money. So far the only major issue is the cheating in money aspect as that breaks your save entirely since you cant remove the money and the game saves it. all the others can just be kicked and then restart your game.

I don't understand the jester award here, they're completely right.
Don't play public lobbies, they are absolutely horrendous. Playing with friends is the recommended, and ultimately much more fun experience.

I myself wouldn't have a single clue on how you've experienced random lobbies to come to the conclusion that they are "absolutely horrendous", but i myself only ever encountered a single toxic lobby before the cheaters showed up. Meanwhile having more positive public lobbies then i can count on my fingers, even making new friends out of public lobbies. I only ever played public lobbies when my mates weren't on for full 4 player matches which was rather often, so playing randoms was the better choice then just not playing, while it gave the same fun game-play that id get from playing with my mates. would love to hear you're own experiences for a better picture.

see, you are wrong.

because phasmophobia has lobbies that work in the same way and are good, people pretty rarely troll or cheat

Hello everyone!

"Just don't play public lobby" is indeed a safer way to avoid save breakers. But you're not safe either!

I am willing to develop a mod called "LethalWhiteList" (also learn the language to create mod since I'm mostly a web dev).

This mod will allow anyone to blacklist a steamId with a report system and you'll be able to configure a theshold, like an auto-kick mechanism if anyone above 20 reports try to join your game (to avoid false positive being kicked)

Keep an eye to new mods incomming! It shouldn't be hard to create.

How is anyone to add to their friends list if they don't meet friends? Your logic is not sound. I didn't get a large friend list by avoiding public games. This is like saying that the dating scene is hard, so I'll just get married

Seen the odd 1-2 blatant cheaters at least daily. But then you have those sneaky cheaters that'll toggle high jump or fast sprint to make a getaway or to hoard loot to seem beast.

Honest to God thats probably the saddest thing to cheat in a game that literally has no ranking or any competitive aspects. Same feelings towards those who used cheats in Among Us VC discords when it was popular. WHATS THE POINT, its nothing but a requirement of those people to receive praise on how good they are.

I had one cheater join and give us like 600k in credits to spend, but they altered the death penalty to like 100k per death. We just bought out the store, messed around with some items and restarted with a fresh save. They did ruin the run, and they were kicked before getting to enjoy play testing all of the gear we bought.

I'm pretty sure they were spawning creatures at "the perfect times" too.

It's just sad, to cheat in online games, let alone one with no competition or anything but "bragging rights."

Through my experience, quite a few lobbies were toxic and unbearable, but at this point that might've been from my own bad decisions of choosing lobbies. I'm certain that by now, public lobbies have improved much more.

This wasn't exactly my point, but it is still a good point that I hadn't thought of.

And to the 2 people who gave me jester awards, I thank you for the free points. Your contribution has affected nothing to the debate.

Yeah.. and kinetic games are narcacist threating theyr game as a live service game.

This game DOESNT NEED to be a live service game. Make friends and make friends only lobbies. Problem solved..

Or simply kick the cheaters?

.

I wouldnt ever use this mod because you as a 'user' made it. This is a 'really' bad idea and should be cancelled streight off the bat because people report for no reason at all.

You allready have admin mod. You should use that.

I have less a problem with cheaters in public lobbies than trolls who start the ship after 10 seconds, the lockdown mod helps with trolling.

Even the 'cheat' mods bhop is the only one that really stands out since you can just hop away from anything,
