An Error Occured. Are you in offline mode?

I can not for the life of me find a fix for this and don't know if anyone else has this issue. I played this yesterday (11/13/23) and went to play today (11/14/23) and I can not join my friend or any public game for that matter. I know steam had maintenance today but the servers are back up and running. I have tried everything imaginable and nothing seems to help.

Any Ideas?

Update my friend just refused to restart the game, he restarted and it fixed itself. 2 hours of my life wasted for nothing XD
