Whenever I need to reformat or get a new hard drive or whatever it's a huge hassle, stresses me out something fierce for months. Gotta get all the settings right, make sure stuff is where I want it to be, transfer files over, blah blah.
OCD is a hell of a drug.
Also they'll have to drag me kicking and screaming to make me install their bloated spyware. I'm REALLY hoping the impending "steam no work on 7 >:(" date is more like "steam have some features stop working lol"
I can't remember the reason I got rid of windows XP, but I think 8 or 10 may have been out already when I did.
Unless your computer never goes online (which i doubt) its just waiting for known exploits to be used for your pc to be part of a botnet, hacked or otherwise compromised.
My advise would be to check online for some guides on how to create a custom Win11 ISO where you can remove the bloatware, telemetry etc. I've created mine using NTLite. There are also ways to circumvent the Win11 hardware requirements (TPM, processor) so you can install it on older hardware.
I predicted this would happen long before it was announced. I already took measures to ensure that I would always have access to all of my purchased games, even if Steam completely shut down.
The only games that will be forfeit are ones like Rust. Online-only, server-based multiplayer games, that require Steam to run.
Those of us still using Windows 7 don't expect modern games to support Windows 7. It's still a pleasant surprise when they do. In the same vein, most multiplayer games don't have a LAN option but Lethal Company does.
You can try DXVK, depends on what Anti-Cheat the game is using.
The game is ass, play the free roblox clone instead.
Windows 7 has bloat and spyware too, just not as much as 10, but it's still slower despite that. Anyone that claims Windows 7 is faster than 10 and 11 are biased and huffing pure copium, but all versions of Windows are slower than a properly configured Linux distribution like Arch Linux and its forks like EndeavourOS (literally Arch but with a GUI installer and a few extra packages included out of the box) and Garuda Linux (largely modified Arch with custom programs that make some features easier to use, though the OS is more costly on system resources so it's not as good for weaker or older systems with little RAM)
Arch distros are great for customisation and support, because so it's so widely used.

Distributions based on Ubuntu are extremely common and often the first stop for beginners to Linux; Mint is one of the most popular distros, Pop!_OS by System76 is another one that's more focused on gaming in particular, but heavier on resources because the only supplied desktop environment (DE) is GNOME, whereas Mint allows for a few different DEs: xfce, Cinnamon, MATE, etc. But there more limited in customisation, and because they're more focused on stability, they keep to older kernels and drivers that make them less suitable for newer hardware.
