Love the game, but is selling intentionally frustrating?

I've been playing this game a ton lately, and I love it. Just failed our quota on day 32.

One question: is the selling mechanic intentionally annoying? There's no consistency. Sometimes, I ring the bell 15 times and he doesn't take what's off the table. Sometimes, he takes it after one. Sometimes, we sit there for 2-3 minutes like idiots waiting for him to buy our stuff, and we can't even add stuff to the table because it's full.

Considering how frequently you have to sell to the company, it would be great to make it a smoother process.

Never had to wait longer than a few seconds or so. Drop off your loot, ding the bell like 6 times until you hear the door open then back off.

Ok.. so after playing around, you have to ring the bell in quick succession, but not too quickly or he kills you. It seems needlessly obtuse and unclear.

It's just odd that the game actively discourages spamming the bell, but then requires it to sell quickly. Also, there is still sometimes a 10s delay for him to actually grab the items.

you just have to ring the bell until the door opens, it has visual and audio, it can open on ring 1, it can open on ring 5, just keep pressing until it opens

once the door opens you back off, then he swipes the item and closes it and you can continue

There is a clipboard with the basic information you need to know before doing anything basically, a tutorial of sorts. There is even a poster reminding you to read it on the ship

It's a fun little easter egg of sorts. Makes for some funny moments when one of your friends gets annoyed and keeps ringing and dies. Don't give it much thought, and calm down, it is not a big deal to wait an extra 20 secs until he buys.

Yeah no I totally get that, one time 4 of us tried to get it to sell and NOTHING happened for 5 minutes. Everyone was super confused and we read over stuff to make sure we werent doing it wrong
