Zap Gun, how does it work ?

Found some info online that it locks onto enemies after you click it once but all it does it lock onto friends who are behind me and then shoots my first person view up into the sky as it start tazzing my friends behind me, instead of the creature infront of me.

I think it's supposed to target the nearest entity in front of you but it's also locking onto things behind you, which bugs the camera out really bad. Could try having your teammates move out of LoS or stand far away until you manage to lock onto your actual target. Heard some people said it's just not worth the hassle though, so you might want to wait for a sale on stun grenades and just rely off those.

I've found looking down at like a 45 degree angle can help a bit, but it's pretty scuffed overall

As of this current version of the game, the Zap Gun is a bit wonky and does run in to some issues. It tends to go for the nearest entity, even your friends. GIve it some time to get patches, shovels do a pretty 'bang up' job.
