Can someone explain the power switch to me?

i assume you mean the breaker box you find rng in facilities

it's mostly lights but it can also be used to open doors if you have no one on comms to do it for you, the same way doors open once you remove the power device altogether

there's a chance that the lights will be off before you even enter the facility, so you'd have to go wandering through the dark using up your flashlight if you have one to find the break box
