Zap Gun useles

There is something very wrong with this tool, every time our party has tried to use it it refuses to even recognize active hostile targets as being targets at all until there are no players left but the wielder.
It has gone out of it's way to target players that are farther away than hostiles, and force the wielder to 180 to face team members rather than nearby hostiles. Is there any way to use this thing effectively at all, or is it just actively broken?

For real. Me and my friends think its just bugged, cause theres no way its actually that useless. Its really frustrating for sure.

I honestly can't figure out how to use it either. I was in a building with a friend and went to zap a hoarding bug and I ended up zapping my buddy even though he was behind me. Then the mini game of pulling the beam to towards the indicated direction has no feedback of whether you're even doing it right or wrong, so I just kept doing what it told me with no noticeable effect. We also tested it to see if it would do damage so I zapped my friend and he said he took no damage from it. Does it just stun? Is that all it's really good for?

has anyone tried to use it as a defibrilator? does it bring dead friends back to life?

It is indeed for stunning, no damage afaik, the combo is to have your friends bring shovels/stop signs and beat the monster while it is stunned, I believe.

I have also NOT been able to successfully stun a monster yet, either due to my bad aim or the gun just refusing to hit anything but my crew idk lol.

sometimes glitches you out when you 180 to stun your teammate giving invulnrability ticks, saved me from thumpers a few times
