I'd say this game is a lot better generally speaking, it feels like a cult classic already and it's surprisingly polished and fun.
(I am a big fan of this game so my opinion is biased)
The cult classic feel is interesting, that means a low def graphic profile with good gameplay I assume?
Unfortunate Spacemen is cheesy, and is a dead game now, been dead forever, plus PVP. This game is among us themed, and coop plus PVE
I personally don't think the games should be compared based on gameplay. Each game is very different in map design, objectives, etcetera. as Unfortunate Spacemen is inspired by Werewolf or Trouble In Terrorist Town rather than a scavenging simulator like Lethal Company. USM is also significantly older. They're fundamentally different besides being in a first-person perspective.
To put it simply, if you're looking for an action packed shooter where you can fight back, do some tasks or simply mess with people USM is a good game to play. USM offers both a PVP and two PVE modes in "Shapeshifter", a TTT themed mode where you can either go against a player or an AI who's the "Monster" that can disguise as a team mate, PVE Survival or a surprisingly spunky and thought out story mode which masks the games' surprisingly dark story with silly humor (which Dans_Tip described as "cheesy").
If you're more into horror aspects, coordinating with your teammates or simply having fun dying to some pretty vicious beasts LC is more your call. It's smaller, simpler, and more optimised than USM which shows some signs of age despite still being very charming.
- In terms of depth, USM offers several modes, practice modes, plenty of items and character perks to customise how you play and more. LC, still being in early access, lacks these features unless you install mods.
- PVE variety is kind of lacking in both games. It can get stale, but I think LC just barely wins out by having more varied monster designs and abilities. For PVP it depends on how smart the Monster or opposing Spacemen are.
- Both USM and LC are pretty polished. I barely encountered glitches or errors in either game. Unfortunately one of the maps in USM, Kema, is causing lag issues for some players though. (It plays fine for me.)
- USM's graphics are pretty modern, gritty and dark. It's a 2016 game with a simple art style. I personally think it's pretty, but it's not for everyone. LC's art style is iconic, simple, dark, and gloomy. Definitely suits the kind of game LC is.
- As I mentioned earlier, as a 2016 game USM struggles with a few aspects and some players report different issues. For me, the game always runs perfectly fine and LC lags on occasion.
- Where the games become comparable is the story, which is almost identical. Massive corporation enslaves humanity to appease a mass of space-horror masked with thinly veiled attempts at entertaining the worker class as they're being sent to their deaths doing meaningless tasks. The games could take place in the same universe for all I know. It's fun to think about. I'd rather not spoil any more. Play both games. :)
- Like I said earlier, both USM and LC are great games in their own right and fundamentally different with focus laid in different places. I like to think USM is the strange pseudo-sequel to LC. Both games have a great community and Zag as well as Zeekers are wonderful devs who love the game they work on.
To disprove Dans_Tip, USM is not dead. Its community is small, but there's a fair amount of players returning or even beginning to play despite the games' age. It precedes Among Us's release by several months, making it the original "Space Murder Simulator". Every saturday there's even a game night dedicated to playing USM.
Hope this helps!
