Report a translation problem
Someone said today, that the "jump on a railing to smack the thumper" tactic is also viable for spiders. Haven't tested it myself yet.
I ran right beside it to get into a room behind it and it stayed idle.. like maybe if you smack it or get close enough your player touches it's hitbox, it might wake up, but it seems to prioritize being idle.
If a spider isn't actively wandering and hunting, then it's essentially passive unless you go up right next to it or touch a web. Don't know if destroying webs also triggers them but I wouldn't try.
Destroying their web also triggers them but you can use that as you described.
I even once had to run after the spider with my shovel because it ignored me.
Wouldn't trust it 100% though. Better play it safe if you can ;)
You've just necroed a thread from the previous patch when it DID WORK. This has been removed since.
