Hugely inconsiderate of the dev to not think that for most people a FOV that tiny is not comfortable.
The industry MINIMUM is 75 for a reason.
Thanks for the heads up! It should be a ingame feature, not a third party mod imo. But no worries, it will come later I guess. Its still a blast of an experiencing with 16:9, even though the black bars on the sides do trigger me a bit. 21:9 and other Widescreens FTW!
I understand that the current FOV is kinda bad and should be slightly raised and that wider monitor support would be good, however i do see that as likely not being very high on the devs to-do list.
I really do like slightly lower FOV on "horror" games like this as it really builds to the atmosphere.
but me personally, i have never really thought about using wider or larger resolution monitors due to various reasons which i am now going to list off:
1. Larger resolution / wider monitors are kinda pricey
2. Depending on the resolution you want and your pc specs it can lower the frame rate a pretty decent amount, and i myself feel very sick if i play games with anything lower than 80 fps, and for alot of the good games out there my pc can barely run over 80 fps while still looking decent with graphics settings, the newer call of dutys are a decent example. oh, and in case you were wondering my specs i have an HP prebuilt with an i5 12400, an RTX 3060, along with 32GB of RAM at 3200.
3. And the final reason is i have an eye condition, my left eye is a lot weaker than my right eye and requires rest otherwise it becomes out of sync with the right eye because it slows down and eventually it no longer wants to look around due to too much strain, I was originally told to rest both of my eyes when it starts to happen but after mentioning how much i use my computer / play games i was given an eye patch to wear for when it starts to happen. So a wider screen would be much harder to see considering how my nose blocks a good portion of my 32 inch curved monitor in my right eye when i wear the eye patch.
Shame as I was going to buy the game until I saw this thread!
Doesn't that solution stretch the game to fill out an ultrawide aspect ratio? It makes everything look stretched.
Remade from the ground up? Just change the values that are hardcoded to 66. Not a difficult thing to do.
Because when I load in and menu is cut off, because I have a 21:9 monitor. Ew. No.
