Question and Suggestion with the Radio/Walkie Talkie
After playing for sometime I was talking with Friends/Family about how the Walkie-Talkie works in-game and felt they were intended to do more or be more impactful on the game. What I mean by this is early on we thought that getting 2 or 3 Walkie-Talkie's would be fine, as we assumed that you could listen in on someone holding one and found out that it was only local (As in only the people holding them can hear the sound).

So here is my Question.

1. Are Walkie-Talkie's going to stay as a local sound for players, or are they going to make sounds in the world? I feel that Walkie-Talkie's are an item that could be so much more impactful on the interaction in game, as they currently just let you communicate at any distance. A few scenarios that come to mind.

Blind Dogs are not super threatening on their own, but I felt like being quiet over the Walkie-Talkie was kind of mandatory early on but later learned that they can't hear it. Same thing with some other sound sensitive monsters that might exist in the full game, more interactions with the Walkie-Talkie other than just "You can hear people really far away" is a missed opportunity. Being force to be blind to outside info while in a bunker or outside because of sound sensitive monster could really add to the game. Being unaware of monsters moving or walking into monster because you are forced to turn it off feels like it was the intended use for Walkie-Talkie's

When Someone Dies I think it would be really funny if you can hear the Walkie-Talkie just making noise and going "Oh there you are" just to see a bloodstain on the ground and the small light of coming from it.

2. Are Walkie-Talkie's Batteries going to be lowered at all? You can have Walkie-Talkie's on for start to finish while having over or just under %50 left in them, the fact that you can go from 8am - 10pm without even trying to conserve power on them is kind of weird. I'm not asking for it be changed to much but it really felt like they exists as "You can hear people really far away" and didn't even come to mind until just recently after the demo ended and we talked about the game and our thoughts. The method we ended up using towards the end of the Demo was to have 1 person inside the ship 1 - 2 people in the bunker's and 1 person running items back to the ship. Just that felt like an interaction of "Hey X's Walkie-Talkie is low charge yours and swap with him real quick" was kind of neat

Looking forward to seeing what this game looks like when it comes out in a few day and hope to encounter more insane monsters on the future Moons

Thank you

i remember multiple times where i could hear the walkie talkie even though i wasn't holding it. infact it brings over every sound except the other player talking if you aren't holding one. but thats because walkie talkies are so cheap and go on sale consistantly. so i think its fine

Yeah, I'm aware of the Walkie-Talkie not needing to be held to hear, and the fact it picks up sounds in the world but not other players I do wish it did that. What I'm talking about is it making noise in the world, like if someone was talking through the Walkie-Talkie and things in the world could hear it, that sort of thing. Because blind dogs wont hear anything other than the player themselves not the Walkie-Talkie.
