Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2

I hope for the return of Simon Chylinski
The OG soundtrack and soundscape was outstanding. I can't help but return to the original soundrack bangers.

Not to mention the silence of the water crafts that let the atmosphere speak volumes. The sea life being more ambient and distant and foreboding... I really hope that Subnautica 2 brings back the same level of creeping dread.

Won't be utilising the multiplayer, personally, because the idea of additional chatter ruins immersion for me, but power to those of you who want it. Maybe having a push to talk radio thing would be best - proximity would be too disengaging I think?

That music was interesting and different at first, but it quickly became overbearing and grating. It was not gaming music but lounge lizard music.
I am still playing Subnautica and play with the music almost completely turned off. It does NOT stand the test of time.

Lounge Lizard? I guess call me a gecko the way I am lounging to these Lizard beats.
I think the best part of the first games sound design was the fact it was gentle enough to tune out while you are busy, but while traveling it was prominent enough to properly represent the games atmosphere.

I absolutely agree :) :seamoth:
I preferred his work to the music in BZ. BZ's wasn't terrible, but I strongly suspect we won't be seeing Chylinski back. Burned bridges and all that.

It's a pity that Simon Chylinski won't be making music for Sub. 2. His musical vision was the best underwater themes I've ever heard! If only they coud bring him back...
When i hear "Shallows" theme - i get instant dopamine hit! I's so positive and gentle...

Same! "Salutations" makes me smile so much :) Which is usually offset by the dread of the soundtracks in the deeper areas, haha

Yeah the music from the first game annihilates the BZ ost.
