Honestly, you cannot trust Steam tags. I didn't realize it when I was new, but users decide those and they are thusly unreliable. That is why every anime aesthetic game has the "nudity" and "sexual content" tag regardless of what is actually in the game.

Actual adult games have an adult content warning in yellow near the top of the page, often require inputting an age, and you have to set your account to be allowed to see them in the first place.

I mean, you're not wrong. The h-content of most visual novels is mediocre, unnecessary and odd and exists just to sell copies. Like the R18 versions of To Heart or certain Key titles.

I dunno if I'd agree that they were unnecessary since the events are still happen off screen in the newer releases but I do think way too many people are hung up on the exclusion of 18+ content that was only available on one release made 20 years ago.

It's funny how many people spit on the 18+ content of the original Utawarerumono but don't say anything about how everything was made around it, and how it impact even the other two game.
All of the women close to Hakuoro are like this because the game was an eroge and they fit in their cliché. Most of all the only reason Kuon even exist IS because the 1st game was an eroge...

For exemple all of Hakuoro's wife are still waiting for him after nearly 20 year .
Kuon call all of these women mother .
Every single people close to them act as if they were the wife of their emperor .
Karura's pledge, and her forcing herself onto Hakuoro who is resisting all her advance because of Eruru. But she still goes with it because she know that word don't have any importance when talking about this kind of matter. It's Karura, this scene was perfectly fit with her extremely forcefull way to solve things, and how close she was of Hakuoro.

The only one that served no purpose other than the joke was Touka's , but even then it's understandable when you follow the entire story on how Karura always make her do stupid things.
And the one that was only here for the porn was Kamyu's when she is possesed to please the one who love incest.

So yeah their quality wasn't the best, but no one saying that these scene served no purpose made any argument in how all of the things these event created are useless.
Because the quality of the scene was low don't mean they served no purpose.

Just for the sake of everybody on this board who hasn't had to deal with this guy on the Prelude board: he hasn't played PttF and doesn't know what he's talking about, he only has vague ideas in his head of what the game is like based on what he's heard from other people. He also cannot understand the concept of a game having mature content (which PttF does) without displaying it in a pornographic manner (which the 2002 game does and PttF does not). It's best to just ignore him.
