You get MP solely from Internal Skills and equipment. Legendary Internals give around 500 Mp and Yin Type Internals give about 800.
Every Point of Int will lower your Base Mp by 35, down to a minimum of 100 Base MP, This does not affect the MP you get from Internal Skills.
My memory is fuzzy but you can also use:
1) consume Lingzi (medicine)
2) the punishment room in Taoist sect
3) the ice bed in ice prison
Gameplay Wise: Balance. Int is incredibly powerful because it's a direct Attack and Defense boost.
Lore Wise?: Maybe it represents MP representing something more intuitive or zen, less intellectual or logical.
So, Int makes you more logical in your approach (where to strike, how to defend, etc.), but trade off is less of a reserve of energy to tap into the more fantastical or mystical aspects of Kung Fu.
Thats my idea of the reasoning anyway.
Tale of Wuxia did something similar. More Int made you master the Internals Faster so you got less HP and MP out of it.
