That mission doesn't actually seem to be hard-timed so I'd say get your weapon stat up, grind a bit more, and get some gold skills if you don't already. the higher your level the less damage they do.

good way to get weapon stats up is external skill books that raise the relevant weapon stats. Only a few internal skill books that raise weapon stat. Also, the drunken man sect gives you a few books that would raise all weapon stats if you get further into the quests
I was stuck at this same quest then I respec my MC into full tank basically all damage reduction specs while rest of my team attack him with debuffs like internal injury/bleed/blind/poison
internal injury is really good since it will slow down their speed/action
To see your combat number you look at your character's stats and to the left is a number under a sword.
