Bosses 1 shotting everytime
So . . what the story here. Is my guy underpowered or is this just a mechanic? I am either the same level or 15 levels higher than some "bosses" yet they 1 shot me and I do like 10 damage per hit. Am I missing something? On hardmode so expected it to be "hard" but this is weird. I have full purple gear. Its the casino ladies quest. The guy she is against 1 shots her and me.

I don't know what they were thinking with the stats. Even with lockdown characters, they tank practically everything that isn't just whittling them down by armor debuffs and slow ticks.

That mission doesn't actually seem to be hard-timed so I'd say get your weapon stat up, grind a bit more, and get some gold skills if you don't already. the higher your level the less damage they do.

Hmm, the only boss that I remember 1-shotting at high levels is the ice-prison dude, simply because he has a XX% chance to one-shot if your level isn't high enough - this was a while ago, I am not sure if they added this trait to other bosses since then, but it is likely that they did - check out the boss-stats to see if they have some trait that allows 1-shotting under certain circumstances

good way to get weapon stats up is external skill books that raise the relevant weapon stats. Only a few internal skill books that raise weapon stat. Also, the drunken man sect gives you a few books that would raise all weapon stats if you get further into the quests

Don't forget you can respec your passives infinite amount of times!

I was stuck at this same quest then I respec my MC into full tank basically all damage reduction specs while rest of my team attack him with debuffs like internal injury/bleed/blind/poison

internal injury is really good since it will slow down their speed/action

The scaling in this game is bonkers, quests often have no indication of the power you'll need to complete a quest. I often times start a quest only to be completely annihilated by (usually) a single guy at the final battle who can one-shot my entire group. Prior to the one guy, there's no indication that the quest requires you be a higher level, all the "normal" enemies are manageable and then BAM. Dead. There are like five quests I have sitting uncompleted because there's some godlike schmuck who can wipe my entire group in one go.

I have to admit, a couple of battles have only been won because I took the Hidden Rescue Guy trait at the start and have Teacher Save Me! lol from the Newbie Sect, one hit has taken me from full health down to 20% then if I'm lucky I get a turn quickly enough to get out of target range so they throw hands at the two monsters come to save my backside

There's another stat that affects damage done and taken. Your combat number. It goes up to 500 and whoever has the higher number does more damage to and takes less damage from the guy with the lower number. Every 10 points of difference is 1% more damage done and less damage taken. You get it up by getting the killing blow on bosses and winning duels can get it up. Also your companions can gain combat number instead of you if they kill the boss so micro is needed.

To see your combat number you look at your character's stats and to the left is a number under a sword.
