Whats a good build for Qu Wangyou?
I want to keep her in my team as my main sword user but I'm not sure what type of build would suit her. She doesn't have any traits that help her with dps or tanking and the heal skill is pretty bad. Her only good source of heal seems to be her ultimate but that requires a ton of spirit to use. Her fate trait isn't great either. Even Tang Wan'er has more useful traits.

I'd prefer to keep Qu Wangyou in my party cause of all her extra events and dialogue, but I have no idea how to make her at least somewhat useful in combat.

I'm doing a freemode 900 run atm, so party members will be weak in general, but I feel like I can at least make some of the mid-late game npcs decently strong if I put some effort into them. Also, some of their fate traits can be really useful for my MC too.

Sadly the the problem with healers is that they will never heal more than you take when a healer is required. Qu Wangyou though can heal pretty well when you consider she has a great chance of pulling an automatic second turn if she heals, so that's two potential heals, which is not bad. In general if you want to really make her heal better, you need to find ways to raise her medical via the use of the proper internal/externals. Sadly, there aren't that many and she starts with a bunch equipped. Also the only source of medical for party members is manuals as they can't learn it from the acupuncture dummy like you do. Bottom line, she will never be a great healer, merely a decent one.

She will also never be a good fighter, because too much of her slots are occupied by martial arts raising her medical, and removing them will make her healing worse.

Not exactly true, reading some books from Shifa Temple also increases medical.

Yeah, I feel like, if they made it easier to increase npc medical, it would make it much easier to make someone like Qu Wangyou more viable in combat. Even if she only has a 25% chance of getting a second turn after using the heal skill, it would still be worth it if the heal itself was decent. Or maybe give her a trait that lets her build up spirit easier for her to use her ultimate faster. IIrc that one heals like 25% max hp.

Then there's the issue of the hard limit on one of her heals - "While within 2 squares of Qu Wangyou: Every time the Mc is attacked, recover 5% Missing Hp (up to 120)."

I originally wanted to make her a good fighter but she has 0 traits that actually help in fighting, making her one of the weakest possible dps or tank in the game.

If you have the 2nd DLC you can make hybrid moves. She starts with a purple sword move that boosts her damage by 60% for being female. There's a purple staff move from the eastern city if you rescue the monks from the samurai. It had multiple damage multipliers based on your personality numbers. You can combine those 2 to make her a powerful legendary sword move with like 3 damage multipliers on it.

The CIB has a purple sword manual that also has a damage multiplier based on your sword skill. And getting the achievement for getting 200 sword lets you pick at game start a purple sword manual that boosts damage by 60% if you have an epic or higher sword equipped.

Here's an example.

Then equip her with that legendary sword from the Sword Pavilion sect that has multiple damage multipliers based on your personality traits.

if you can get your hands on the legendary sword manuals you can make her hybrid Top Quality moves which will increase her damage even further if you combine the good legendary sword manuals (the ones with 3 digit % damage multipliers) with other legendary moves that boost damage.

If you can't craft legendary swords then you might buy a purple quality sword from the merchant in the CIB. Gift the npcs there to boost your reputation with the sect because you need honorable level to buy the sword.

The link doesn't work.

I was waiting for after my current playthrough to get the DLC, but thats a very interesting mechanic. Seems like you can make some pretty OP manuals with it. It's pretty easy to make our MC strong, but it's nice that there are more ways to make npcs strong too now.

That's the second time that link didn't work. Though it was a different screenshot last time. I don't know why that doesn't work anymore. It used to. When I look at the pic in my content and click share, that's the link it gives. What exactly is the error message you got? Or did you get one?

EDIT: It was set to private. Now it's public. Can you see it now?

Yep, can see it now. Thats pretty cool. I'll start looking into that mechanic once I finish my current playthrough and buy the DLC.
