Way to overcome debuff from marriage?
I heard that there is a debuff if you marry Duke Kang's sister if you marry other women but there is a way to work around the debuff. What is the way?

It makes your gifts 90% less effective to females.

You can either give more gifts, or get buffs to gift effects.

The debuff makes gifts to females 90% less effective. Ways to counter it are the flower accessory in the Lost Forest which is the forest in the Nameless area. It raises gift effectiveness when giving to females by 50%. Then in the city that starts with a D in the north there's a locked chest in a house near the butcher that has an armor that raises gift effectiveness for everyone by 22%. I might be remembering that number wrong but I'm pretty sure it's 22%. So -90% + 77%.

In the nameless village there's some recruitable characters. If you recruit innkeeper, blacksmith, Bao, hunter, doctor and have them all in your party at once, you unlock a trait for picking at character creation that boosts gift effectiveness for everyone. Basically recruit everyone except the beggar. The beggar doesn't count for this. Make sure they're all in your party at once.

If you marry enough waifus in 1 run you unlock another trait that boosts gift effectiveness when gifting to females. I forget the number but you can look at your achievements and find it there.

So in your current run you can offset 77% of the penalty with equipment and then in future runs you can completely offset it by adding a trait or 2 at character creation.

EDIT: corrected some typoes

the peony accessories overrides the 90% debuff, so you just get the +50% bonus. Unless they patched it out just recently, that's how it worked a few weeks ago.

the wanderer clothes blue rare gives 25% increase to gifts as well.

The peony flower is also at the valley in linan where before you find mantulou waifu if you miss the one at lost forest.

imo it is not worth using the traits for gifts effectiveness for "efficient re-run" tho it depends on the difficulty you are re-running on.

I would suggest to not marry princess fuqing unless you feel you reaching the end game (like around fame 8+ before rescuing the xuan he emperor). By then, most of the waifus can be obtained or maxed out relations even if you cannot marry them yet you need not worry about the gifting part) The waifus at end game that have to wait till you marry princess fuqing will probably be
1. yan rurui (house keeper of the music/courtesan place in lin'an)
2. wanyan girl
3. casino girl
4. hong escort girl
i recall you dont even need wedding stones for them. its an auto bond completing their quests. (excess 3-4 wedding stones end game when i got all the waifus)

or you can branch off a save to do the noble son achievement, marrying princess fuqing in the process.

It is very possible to marry all waifus in one run just time consuming.

She is not even the problem. the problem is lady ding the ding merchant daughter which gives 1 guan/1000 coins per day which you can marry early but gives no achievement, cannot place her in your hot springs/onsen homeland either.

YET she gives you a 10% hp debuff per action taken for every female partner on party. lmao. worst debuff. skipable, you do not need the merchant's gifts/golds easily obtained via other means.

The Ding daughter debuff can be removed by Miao Caidie.

Peony flowers are farmable. There's one in the vase of all armour shops in the major cities. Some specific random encounters also drop Peony flowers, I have quite a bit of those in my inventory. You can also equip it on your party members to further boost the relationship gains.

in RL, marriage really gives you debuff... almost 90% of your salary goes to your wife.. its really unfair... :steamhappy:

In other words, if you try to marry the other women first before fuqing, then you are not faced with the debuff when you try to give them gifts(to woo/court them)?

Yes, you are correct. The debuff starts after getting married to Lady Fu Qing. However, if you've progressed the story far enough (Duke Kang's ascension to the throne and moved to the palace), she will become unavailable.

Not quite.. you can only marry people with 100 affection, so you won't need to gift them once married.... The money is useful, and it also help you get the achievement when you side with duke Kang.. so just get her, then equip everyone with flowers before gifting to any women and you are fine.. also, by marrying her, with high fame, it gets you like extra 20 point when you first speak to people too.

If you have the debuff from marrying Lady Ding, talk to Miao Caidie will get you an extra option to remove the curse. This option is available when Miao Caidie is still walking inside the Jiuli Tribe compound. You may also want to have +100 relationship with her. Not sure if completing her personal quests is mandatory.
