I joined Old man sect, I finished Ice Prison part, talked to MH leader, she took bath with me one time and now I can recruit her. I recruited other two girls too, and wiped out the Jiuli tribe. I read somewhere that I get legendary weapon from Melody House leader if I have both Lone wanderer and Laughing at the world learned. I have first one, but cant find second one anywhere.

So, did I messed something up, or I just need to keep going? It's my first playthrough, so I'm just collecting achievements and legendary stuff for my second one, so it's not that big of a deal if i did mess up, I'll just be more carefull on second try.

Few more questions:
- How exacly do i get Vairocana Solar Sutra without joining Shifa Temple? The guide I read said to side with Yan envoy, but I didn't get this event yet. It then said that I need to buy something from sect story, but don't I need to join to be able to use it?
- According to one of guides I read there are supposed to be buch of recruitable characters in Confucius Temple, some available even when i don't join. But only one I found (beside leader) are Cai Youzhi and Ling Hongxuan. Where are everybody else?
- I did quest to free dog from prison, and from what I heard I was supposed to get accesroy that boosts Apprisal exp, but I didn't. What could I do wrong? I went to merchant, made him admit he set guy up, and he gave me money for ransom. I paid his ransom off, and told him it was merchant daughter who gave money. he then left.

The Vairocana Solar Sutra. One thing you can do is do a run where you join Shifa temple and get it, then put it on one of the stones of your homestead and claim it on future characters. You can only claim from a stone 1 time per run so if you have claimed from each one you can't do this, but one thing you might do if you can still claim from one is make a side save and do shifa. Then get the manual and put it on a stone. Then load the save you made before doing that and claim it off the stone. If you haven't upgraded the stones to level 5 yet this is easy. Just upgrade it to unlock a stone and put it on the new stone.

The recruitable characters at Confucius are the 4 sages. They only appear after you join the sect.

You can simply break into the scripture tower. Walk along the right side of it between the tower and wall and you get a prompt to jump up. The Solar Sutra is on the top floor in sanscrit, and the middle floor has a sanscrit dictionary. Either use the tables in the tower or break into the sleeping area to read them. Breaking in will probably start a fight and make the shifa temple hostile though (I have seen it not happen, but I don't know why).

Ling Mengdie is recruitable without joining. You will need Qu Wangyou (plant sect) or possibly very high medicine. The far-rightmost building should have Ling Hongxuan standing outside. If you try to walk past him to the (closed) door, it starts a duel, and the door opens when you win. Talk to Ling Mengdie inside, Qu Wangyou will tell you how to cure her illness, and you can recruit her after doing so. This also earns you the legendary Sword manual "Illusion Sword", one of my personal favorites because every kill with that technique increases your attack speed by 15 for the rest of combat, stacking.

The 4 sages are actually in Daling in disguise until you pass the entrance test for Confucious sect, and I don't believe they will join anyone not currently a sect member.


Don't know anything about your last question, I never bothered to do that quest.

Ty for suggestion, trying it right now, but can't figure monk's sleeping scheudle. BTW, once I jump in, is there any way to jump out?

they usually sleep after Zi hour, but you can save before jumping and load if they are awake.

You can just walk out of the tower if they are sleeping the guy in the door doesn't say anything.

P.D.: there are also 2 external purple skills in the second floor in the bookshelf you can check several times, one for staff one for glove, both fall at random, but you can save and try until you get them.

Worst case you get out of the temple and buy a mediation if you still want to be pals. It's what I did. I also used the respawning monks as sparring partners while I was going through the books.

Don't know anything about your last question, I never bothered to do that quest.

I already Recruited Ling Hongxuan earlier in my playthrough, but the door he guards are still closed. i tried Dissimising him and dueling him again in front of doors, but it didn't help. Any idea what might went wrong there?

Since the original question kind of got lost in the discussions on how to best murder buddhists, if I remember correctly Fu Yaoqin gives you Laughing at the World after you take 5 baths and then the legendary flute if you talk to her with both legendary techniques learned (or mastered, I don't know).
