Whichever epic/legendary you manage to get.
There aren't that many to choose from and they are quite similar to each other as far as flat stats go.

I generally prefer Vampirism/Crit Dmg/Crit chance/Combo in approx this order if I get to choose.

I generally don't like 'conditional' triggers too much(attack from side/back and such) and the 'ailments'.

Yes, I agree. The only thing I'm unsure about is things like removing Qi from the enemy. How effective is that? Has anyone noticed?

Qi basically is a turn wait time (when they gather enough, they act) so what do you think...
It is effective. Especialy if more than one character have weapons or skills or both that affect qi.

I like the seal status effect and combining it with moves that reduce ki if you are fast enough you can take on enemies far stronger then you.

Qi remove is pretty nice on 1st playthrough, especially when combined with other characters massively as already mentioned...
But loses value rapidly once you become godlike via achievements IMO when you can just overkill sustain via vampirism + crits.... which is pretty early into total completion unless you limit yourself to 1 playthrough.

Still a decent thing to have on other characters who otherwise become underpowered compared to MC.

The fact that your companions become to insanely underpowered compare to the MC...i both Love, and absolutely Detest with every fiber of my being!
I love it cause it makes you stand out, the people keep saying that you got the potential to become the strongest martial artist this country or even World has ever seen, so you being able to dish out aswell as take as much of a beating as you can, makes it feel like what they say is True, and you can Feel it.

But i also wish it'd f*ck off cause as you mentioned, it makes companions underpowered as sh*t.
Here i am at level 47 with combat of around 250 (no farming) and here is Pao at level 77 and...essentially every single boss one shots him in-where i get barely scratched.
It makes Companions so unbelievably pointless that their only use is to buff you in the Homestead, soak up a hit or two, or give you free high tier items like Siniang's cooking.
After realizing how pointless they are, my second char (didn't finish first run cause f*cked up too much) i just chose Lone Wanderer and Loner, cause if they're not gonna contribute with their presence, might aswell benefit from their absence.
I seriously hope they get buffed in the future...

Legendaries crafted with max weapon crafting skill. Bigger stats, more effects. All around better than found ones.

On higher difficulties they are mostly useless, so kinda balanced.

Balanced is one of the Last things i would say this game is, i've fought opponents several hundreds of Combat, and tens of levels higher than me, yet i kick their *ss.
Then i face one fat dude 100 combat and 20ish levels below me, and i barely scratch the dude, the only reason i win those fights is cause my weapon got Bleed which ignores everything, and without my insane AS he would've most likely won, how TF is that Balanced?
And it's not even consistent during the Emperor Rescue mission from the Yan Camp i face one higher ranked dude, he dies in one hit, then i face another one, identical to the last one, and he takes enough hits and deal enough damage to force me to use healing/mana items.
Their stats are almost always lower, and their statuses are not even that great, yet they put up an actual fight where people that Should've, don't.

I love the game, but Balanced it is not.

Was just kidding, but anyway, you should only have problems with boss characters on lower difficulties like normal, hard oO + if you want to play challenging game play on free mode ~900.

I don't know if you've ever read a wuxia or xianxia novel, but it's basically how 99% of them go...
