Shell shock and custom difficulty are fun, but...
The added difficulty modes are neat because they incentivize the player to really delve into the emergent gameplay mechanics to make up for a lack of pistol and supplies. Sadly this only ends up showing how lacking the emergent systems really are. I found several torches early game, but no lighter, so I wracked my brain to figure out how to make use of them. Maybe set off a incendiary trap and use the fire to light the torch? Nope, doesn't work. Use a flare to light the torch? Also nope. Use a flare to light a gas spill, *then* use the burning spill to light the torch? Nope nope nope.

The sad thing is that this is still the most terrifying Amnesia game I've ever played. I really hope frictional makes a full blown sequel to this game. The potential is there, and the results could be extraordinary if they do a better job of mapping out all the creative interactions between player input and the environment.
