maybe you mod that game, like unlock 144fps support?
Based on the experience you have, you'd benefit from unlocking the New Game+ options and start over. You can customize everything with them, including having multiple save points, and "easy" isn't the easiest. As described in the video from 1:00 onwards, go to the screen that says "New game" where you pick the difficulty, hold any button (mouse or keyboard) for ten seconds.
That unlocks it. Else you'd have to finish the game once first.

In their prior Amnesia game, you technically couldn't die. This one is different, with a pretty cool oldschool challenge vibe to it -- if you're like me into it.
