The beast ignores light????
I know I already did a post about lamp issues in the safe room but this is an even BIGGER issue

So I was recording an episode for a playthrough and I had the generator on, figured I would be safe cause lights are on cause it's like the sign in the generator room said! "The ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hates light" so I had the generator on and thought nothing of it! But as I went out to go to the arsenal not only did I get hit out of the blue but the monster was RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF ME!!!!! The lights were on! He hates light doesn't he??? So how come he was out in the light??? I was lucky to be able to turn around and get to the safe room and lock the door behind me. I thought I was dead but for some reason he just took his time chasing me and I was safe by the time he got there.

So what gives? Is this a glitch???? Were the soldiers wrong and he doesn't hate the light?

WHY WAS HE IN THE HALL WITH THE LIGHTS ON???????

He does hate light, it's just that sometimes he bears the hate and patrols anyway.
He also particularly loves Arsenal

You are never safe anywhere.. except for the (locked) safe room. Hence the name of it.
Jokes aside, there's only 1,5 areas he can't patrol and one spot he can't reach.. other than that, you're prey. Especially in Arsenal, it's hard to NOT see him there.

Lights just mean the monster will not appear as quickly and maybe never if you dont make a sound, but as soon as you make a bit of noise it will appear and just ignore the light completely, it will even get attracted by flares which produce lots of light...
Also there are parts where the monster is scripted to appear no matter what.

This whole mechanic is not entirely thought through

That explains it. I was just in arsenal, I heard him making noise. But I found two fuel cans and left to put it in the generator. He must of heard me or wondered in there I dont know. He literally teleports out of nowhere. I was just going back to arsenal and I suddenly fall down and when I stand up he's right there.

Clearly. I did a new save so I can play separate from my channel playthrough and in the quarters instead of using a grenade to blowup the door I pushed the barrel and shot it with a revolver, when I turned around he was just standing there. I didn't even panic i'm just like "wait, what?" the lights were on and as he made his way towards me all I can think was "you have got to be kidding" before he murders me

Yeah I went in there briefly until I found two fuel canisters and left to put it in the generator. I think I ran there? So he must of heard and followed me out. Though he seemed to be invisible. I had no idea he was out there. i went down the hall to be back to arsenal and next thing I know I hear him, I fall backwards and damaged and when I stand up he's there.

I was lucky to make it into the safe room, I figured he'd kill me if I try to run but he apparently was stuck behind a wooden crate or something I dunno. I couldnt figure out how he got there and how he didn't catch me

When you load into Arsenal but also Soldier Quarters and Maintenance from my own knowledge, there's a chance that it has spawned in the area outside of the walls, just checking, usually somewhere in the back of the area.
It'll go back in eventually, won't take much longer than it investigating a noise.
As for falling/jumping: It's one of the more noisy sounds you can make that isn't classified as a guaranteed the-monster-comes-out-right-away sound, and it will also easily help the monster locate you if it's already out and about.

Well it doesn't help he can teleport, go whenever he wants and ignore the rules. I shot a barrel to blow up a door instead of using a grenade. I figured that barrel would blow up due to the grenade anyway so I moved and used it. I was in a room with the lights on, I figured he'd get annoying and sit by one of the holes, bang and boom. I heard him growl and thought nothing of it. I turn around to see which hole and I see him standing in the room with me and i'm like "oh you have got to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me..."

I can share this episode when it's publish so you can see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this monster can pull but I left arsenal I think to fill the generator with gas I found. I guess I ran there and it triggered him to come out somewhere. I made my way back, lights on and next thing I know BOOM I get hit by an invisible force and as I stood up THEN he was there. Then I miss my one bullet when trying to shoot him lol. I was lucky he got stuck to a crate otherwise he would of caught me easily.

I visit the prison and almost every time I do I can hear him walking around so I turn around like "nope, ♥♥♥♥ that". But I just recorded an episode a while ago, I had no choice but to go to the prison cause I can't get anywhere else cause every other place requires me to have an item that I don't have. The maintenance is blocked by rats and I cant use the fire to scare them away cause I didnt have a stick at the time (found two in the prison) and no lighter. I cant do anything in the soldier quarters cause almost every room is locked. I have nothing heavy to throw at them to break them. Just the one room you see in the trailer with the rats eating the corpse. I didnt have fire so I figured screw it and despite them eating my ankles I picked up the dog tag only to find it didnt have a code on it, making it completely pointless. so I know to ignore that corpse now. No fuel can be found anywhere. In the prison I cant go any further due to no wrench so I cant open the cell doors to get the bolt cutters which I don't really need. Only things of interest in those cells are the two fuel cants I found although one is next to a trap that's in there for whatever reason. So I can't go any further in the prison

And then the generator died. Every room is now circled on the map and I can't go any further cause im missing an item of some kind. I'll be damned im gonna use a grenade on the locked doors in the soldiers quarters cause the monster will definately come out to investigate and there's no hiding places and lights dont bother him even though the game said he hates light so generator on or not he's gonna come kill me. I havent found any rocks to throw at them to break them. Even if I did want to use grenades I dont know which door is the one I want to go into cause if I go in and it has nothing I can pick up then i'd waste a grenade and the monster will definately kill me.

After I think eight episodes of this game I found myself constantly saying "I don't know" or "I don't know what to do"

I'm lost, this game is too hard, generator is off meaning the monster can come out whenever he wants now so avoiding him is impossible now, but it doesnt matter cause even with the lights on he STILL comes out, traps are everywhere and one of them is unavoidable, I have no idea what to do, I dont have the code for the lighter, I can't access ANY of the rooms and I got more and more frustrated.

My opinion of this game went from 7/10 to 1/10. Too hard, too annoying and unfair. Especially since the monster ignores the games rules and logic and can teleport in front of me if he wanted to. Without the generator I have no hope like one of the notes said.

After the latest episode I don't think I want to play anymore. It's too hard and I haven't found any items I need in any of the places I was able to get into. The rest is locked doors or blocked by rats and traps.

I lost interest in this game

Did you already use the bricks you can find by the guy who gives you the gun? Cause you can carry those all the way.

You can hide under the beds. If you blow up a locked wooden door, pick a bunk bed to crouch under and then don't look at the monster until you hear that he's gone.

No, I haven't gone back in the infirmary area since the beginning. Mainly due to fear and having no reason to go back there. Fear is one of the reasons I don't go anywhere without the generator being on cause without the lights I hear him EVERYWHERE, usually walking around.

You can hide under the beds? Also how does not looking at him make a difference? Does Henri scream or something in panic if he looks at the monster that he can hear?

I've only toyed with him a little, but I've noticed he has to be provoked much more heavily before he'll exit his hole in the light, his search is much more brief before he gives up.

In the dark it doesn't take much to provoke him into stepping into the hallways, and he's more inclined to investigate. I've never found him wandering around with the lights on, but I've often narrowly avoided bumping into him with them off.

The electric light doesn't protect, it just hinders the beast a little. Also it's nice to be able to see him coming. As far as I can tell the flashlight has no impact at all, beyond advertising your presence to him.

Welp, there should be bricks there you can use.

Hiding under beds has proven to be extremely effective for me, no matter what difficulty. It'll walk right by the bed. It doesn't see me either if it's a bed near a hole it's leaving through, though i preferably don't pick beds near holes. Not all beds are high enough from the floor for you to fit under btw.

Henri doesn't do anything when the two of them make eye contact, the monster will simply see Henri. I imagine it's the same as when you see an animal's glowing eyes in the dark, notably cats. You don't ever see the intense glow until they look you right in the eyes.

That explains why he came out when I not only shot my gun but blew up a gunpowder barrel.

But he does wander, at least in the prison. I made several attempts to go to the prison and two out of four times I can hear his footsteps so I just turn around and leave IMMEDIATELY

I dunno. A brick will slow me down and with the generator being out of fuel he'll be much more active. I just hope to find the code to the locker with the lighter then I can actually progress in the game.

The first time I learned this was in the Prison. There's a hole near the entrance, but the lights were on so I was digging around in the room next to the hole without a care in the world. I dropped something, loudly, but didn't worry about his loud reaction since I figured "Hah the lights are on, can't get me."

Then I looked up and saw him standing in the doorway, just staring at me. That was actually my first real look at him. Face to face. Urine dribbling down my virtual leg. In hindsight it did take him a lot longer to start roaring than normal, so maybe the light slows his responses in general.

After that it was pretty much all him roaring and me dying. So yes, he can come out in the light, especially if he sees you.
