Saved just before getting killed

I was running away from the monster and I reached the safe room, I quickly turned on the saving light, hoping it would push it away. Instead he killed me after less than 2 seconds.
And now every time I reload I am in that room with the monster and it kills me after 1 or 2 seconds.

What should I do? (besides starting a new game)

You can load a previous save from the menu when selecting load game. Click on save slot and it should give you a little selection.

I will surely remember! I thought entering in a room and turning lights on would have been enough since it is written that it "hates light", but I guess I was overconfident

It does hate light and will often avoid going places with a lot of light. But if you aggravate it enough the light around it will flicker and even turn off. Even with the generator on. So it's not a sure thing. But it helps. :D

Same goes for the safe room. At one point I got back to the safe room only to find one of the tables in there completely smashed. And behind it was a "monster hole". I patched that up real fast! I haven't seen it spawn from it. But I guess it actually can!
