Yes. I never found Dead Space particularly scary.
But in Amnesia's case using your resources to advance the story or run and hide, and now with the Bunker unload a few shots into the beast, ala Xenomorph Alien Isolation. Having a singular (presumably) enemy to contend with is tricky, as eventually you know what you're dealing with, does the horror diminish?
But horror is such a broad spectrum, some people will scare easier than others, some won't. Hopefully, Frictional Games will craft a horror experience that is immersive, has an interesting story, and from a game play perspective, how they handle the player's progression as they progress further into the bunker. Does the game play loop stale out as we dive further in?
dead island ia a action cop op game focused on illing as much monsters you can, the game may be fun buttheres absolut nothing scary in that game.
i agree that not be able to defend yourself is starting to get old, but giving rocket launcher to the player is not the solution.
this new amnesia game is already making changes giving the player a little gun so he can temporarily stop the monster but still having to run and hide.
