Normal was stingy but reasonable, I still had a full extra generator charge available to me at all times and the generator itself lasted a reasonable amount of time, the monster can start to get annoying though, constantly spawning each time you enter a new area
Now I'm trying hard, and I'm honestly afraid of what awaits xD
But any playthrough is valid and if Easy is the way you enjoy the game - more power to you.
Hard mode offers more survival horror experience, since you'll be finding less stuff in general and making decisions about what to use when more important.
I think you walked by holes monster currently sitting in. You can see when monster is around when dust clouds are comming from the hole, as well as dust falling from walls and ceiling when it's moving around wall space.
As for dying to tripwires - well, that's one on you. You get solid 3 seconds before they explode, so not running away after you tripped is your mistake.
Obviously everyone play their own way and easy difficulty may suit some people more, but i palyed on Hard and i thoroughly enjoyed my time with a game, precisely because i had to plan my actions around my limited resources, even opting to sneak inside Soldier QUarters in a complete darkness, while monster was on a prowl, just to open some doors and move one box, so when i turn on the generator, i won't waste any time doing that.
Hard mode sounds from what I've heard, while not *terrible* definitely sounds like a mode intended for a second playthrough where you're more familiar with the mechanics.
I also can definitely see (Based in my experiences in other games) why some people would prefer the monster retreating to actually matter, since in some games I've played it can feel like the pursuer just won't leave.
I also know how even on normal, the monster returns pretty quickly after you scare it away on normal apparently, so I can understand why some people wish that (And I might even once I encounter it) maybe putting some bullets at least made it stay away for longer.
I played hard, that was frustrating. I then tried normal, which had the best feeling of safe and danger. Easy would probably be a boring cakewalk.
It's not that difficult concept to grasp.
I played on Hard blindly and thoroughly enjoyed my time, because resource managment aspect made me take risks more than i would have otherwise. I plan on having another thorough playthrough on hard again and after - anything goes for achievement grind.
Liking the game even more now but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where the f is the lighter... hurray for item randomness I guess.
Still think easy is the best way to play this, for a first playthrough, granted.
