Not sure if that's possible though/
Confirmation: Burning a corpse will cause all the rats that ate it to leave the area and not come back. Burnt bodies are of 0 interest to them. Throwing gas grenades at a corpse will force rats off of it temporarily, but they'll return, and killing rats seems to result in them eventually being replaced by more rats.
Solution: Want to get rid of rats? Burn the bodies.
I learned this the hard way...
I decided to just use the ammo i got to shoot the rats since they where active roadblocks to progressing and the mosnter i could just hide if quick enough. I cleared a whole room of them but when i came back later they all respawned. Big bummer but i guess it does fit with the lore as a note mentions that the only way to stop the rat problem was to burn bodies
