I second this, except i prefer Rebirth over Bunker.

Bunker is a beter horror/survival game, Rebirth is a better story game with more varied setpieces and storytelling.

The boring gameplay. But ironically this game has the best plot of the series

Although it really isn't as good as the pinnacle of FG - SOMA and Dark Descent

I don't dislike it but i prefer the newer titles to be honest.
It was hands down one of the greatest horror games at the time due to the superb psychological horror and ambience.

The monsters were a bit anti climactic though, i don't really understand why people would choose it over the newer Amnesia games or even Soma.
Maybe nostalgic value?

Well, in context of the time and how refreshing and new a game like it was. It was insanely good. Now stacked next to Bunker and Soma (Gameplay and Story done better respectively) it doesn't hold up true. That's why I recommend people start with TDD, because it's easier playing new titles after as opposed to going back and noticing how dated it is.

The Dark Descent was kind of the original, perfect experience. A Machine For Pigs felt like a different game (no wonder, being developed by The Chinese Room...), and had a lot of dumbed down mechanics, Rebirth annoyed me with a "gasping for air" pregnant female protagonist I couldn't bond with, and with some political messages I don't like, and, I still gotta finish The Bunker, which I only played briefly on release. It looked much better than Rebirth though, which I consider a really bad game.

Also, SOMA. A bit silly in terms of story, but, also a great game. Not as brilliant as Dark Descent and Penumbra (especially that one) though.
