Unlocking FPS Guide
Someone already posted a guide to this but ignored problems it can cause and presented it as without downsides. Hopefully this is more realistic and helpful.

If you enjoy the game at 60 FPS, please do not turn this thread into an argument. You are completely welcome to and valid in your choice to play at the 60 FPS cap, and I am not here to convince you otherwise.

How do you unlock it?

Navigate to the settings files under "%userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Amnesia The Bunker\Main" and open the one that says username_numbers_user_settings. Modify this with a text editor.

You need to change only two values. CTRL-H to find and replace them easily. Replace 60 with your desired frame rate. Save and close.

RefreshRate="60"
GameplayUpdateRate="60"

You should not have to change the LimitFPS value, but should you have trouble, try changing this next.

What are the downsides?

The game's physics and player collision are tied to the frame rate. Setting the value too high will make certain parts of the game impossible, or at least more difficult, to progress through. This can also cause weirdness with object interaction.

  • Crawling through vents is impossible beyond a certain point. This seems to be fine if at 120 FPS or below. You may see a minor snag, but you can get through just fine.

  • There is a part where you have to squeeze through a gap under some toppled shelving while in water. This is possible but very difficult at 120 FPS, and flat impossible with higher values.

  • There is a part where you have to squeeze under some more shelving, sans water. This part is seemingly impossible at 115 FPS or higher, but works okay at 110. One side is harder to get into than the other, so you may find you can't return after going through. If you get stuck, try alternating the A and D keys and shake your mouse left and right.

  • Toward the end of the game, you encounter what appears to be a bugged seam between two sections of a walkway. There is a piece of floor jutting up that is invisible from one side, but can be seen when viewed on the opposite side. This creates an invisible wall. At 60 FPS, you can move right over it, only seeming to stutter briefly. At higher frame rates, you can simply jump to get over it.

  • Interacting with levers is harder the higher your FPS goes. It essentially feels like you set your mouse sensitivity super low, so you have to make larger movements to pull the levers. A mouse DPI clutch button can overcome this.

  • Objects can behave weirdly at higher frame rates. Physics objects such as chairs may get stuck in other objects. At 180 FPS, I saw a chair get stuck inside a door, spaz out, then explode, leaving the door tilted off the hinges, slowly sliding back into a normal position. I saw little or no problems at 120 FPS.

For the best experience, I recommend setting your frame rate no higher than 110.

Thank you. Kept thinking it was invisible walls or something. Sucks this 60 fps limit exists...but 110 is okay I guess :/

I honestly found 110 to be a pretty great experience. Minor issues and it's definitely smooth enough.
