They don't get destroyed at all. You just hit them directly, and a door opens, so figure it out from there.

Is closing the eyes supposed to stop the creatures from attacking? We had a very hard time completing this because they wouldn't stop triggering. Eventually got it, but it seems like they just spawn every few seconds. Wasn't sure if this was a glitch or expected behavior.

they keep spawning every so often until every party host (the eye things) have been hit with a firework. You'll know you hit one because it'll explode instantly on contact instead of the normal timer it operates on

We did that but they never stopped spawning. It was like every 10 seconds, even when hiding. Whatever room we we're in it would trigger. That's why I wasn't sure if this was intentional or a bug.
